La Petite
In 2006, Ina & Esu were gifted land by the Gour'mache people of the Fada region of Burkina Faso in a small village in the bush known to locals as La Petite Village, or simply, "La Petite".
This project has three components:
-the construction of a traditional compound that will be able to house visiting doctors, dentists, experts in micro-finance, environmental preservation and perma-culture, and also provide a field recording space for indigenous music and dance.
-the drilling of a well that will provide clean potable water for approximately 500 people
-the creation of a solar-powered irrigation system for a community garden to provide a year-round drought-resistant food source for the village
Implicit aspects of this immersion into the ancient culture of the Gour'mache include learning the endangered language, translating it to english for the first time, wisdom-keeping through interviews with elders, and documentation of the spiritual traditions, practices and protocols.
